the underground railroad route
these are routes that people on the underground railroad traveled on, north to freedom on. the red is every route that the slaves went on using Harriet Tubman's brilliance for escape.

Wow! That's a lot of territory. Who is Harriet Tubman anyways? Was she the only person who led slaves to the north? Why were people free in North?
Was this a dangerous or safe journey? Who made the underground railroad work?
Was the North still safe for salves? If they made it North were they garented freedom, or could they be claimed?
